Tennis Superstars

On the 22nd May Calverton took part in the Newham Tennis Finals held at Langdon Academy.  The pupils played excellently throughout with resulted in a win for Calverton which means for the 6th year in a row Calverton will now represent Newham in the London Youth Games.  Well done to everyone who took part.  We will keep you updated with any news.

On the 12th June some of the year 3/4 children competed in another Tennis Final, all of the schools in Newham took part and Calverton managed to achieve 2nd place which is an amazing achievement.  Well done to all who took part and wear your medals with pride.

Calverton primary school represented Newham at the London youth games on the 27th June and won Silver coming 2nd out of over 1500 schools who took part in the competition. 

Calverton/Newham won there group stage not losing a match beating Bexley, Sutton and Lewisham 4-0 in each match. 

Calverton/Newham went on to the quarter finals where they beat Lambeth 4-0. 

Calverton played Richmond in the semi final and again with some superb performances from the children they won 3-1 in games. 

Calverton played Barnet in the final and they drew 2-2 in games only for Barnet to win on a points system 18-16. 

We are so proud of the team for their efforts and how they played. Three members of the team were year 5’s and only one was year 6  and they played against all year 6 students all day. We think they done a fantastic job and that means we have come in the top 3 for last 3 years out of 1500 schools.
