Our music intent is to make music interesting and engaging for children in line with the National Curriculum aims. Children are given opportunities for listening, singing, playing, evaluating, analysing, and composing across a wide variety of historical periods, styles, traditions, and musical genres.
We ensure children gain a firm understanding of music through giving them regular opportunities to perform in front of others both as individuals and within groups. This builds on their performance skills and also helps to develop their confidence and understanding as musicians.
We build the cultural capital of our children in a variety of different contexts that reflect the diversity of our school – exposing them to influences and traditions from many different cultural and historical contexts and ensure they are able to use their musical skills, knowledge, and experiences to involve themselves in music, in a variety of different contexts.
