Admission Arrangements
This section covers Admissions to Calverton Primary School (Reception to Year 6) and Primary to Secondary Transitions.
Fair Access
The law requires that each local authority must have a Fair Access Protocol (FAP), agreed with the majority of schools in its area to ensure that for In Year admissions unplaced children, especially the most vulnerable, are offered a place at a suitable school as quickly as possible. In agreeing a protocol, the local authority must ensure that no school – including those with available places – is asked to take a disproportionate number of children who have been excluded from other schools, or who have challenging behaviour. Central Park Primary has signed up to the LB Newham’s Fair Access Protocol.

Children can be placed on the waiting list for the nursery after the age of 2 years. We will then let you know by letter when we have a place for your child—usually around the time they are 3½ years old. At that point, you will be given a date when you can meet the Early Years Leaders and register your child, and another date for your child to start in the nursery. Children join our reception class in September as we currently have a single point of entry. We arrange meetings for parents in the term before their child goes into a reception class.
We admit children into other year groups if we have a place available. However the borough allocates school places and not the school, therefore parents first register their need for a school place with Pupil Services, London Borough of Newham.
If you are considering applying for a place for your child in our school, whether it is in the nursery, reception or any other year group, you are very welcome to look around either during or after the school day. However, it is advisable to make an appointment so that a member of staff can be available to show you around and answer any questions you may have.
We would welcome you applying for a place at our school. To do this you must follow the correct process for your child’s age as detailed below. We are a school maintained by London Borough of Newham which means they are the admission authority for this school.
