Sports Update

Calverton pupils took part in two sporting events both organised by the Cumberland Sports Partnership.  18 pupils from KS1 took part in the Mini Olympics together with 7 other schools competing in 7 events.  The children won most of the events and came 1st overall.  Well done to all those children who took part, a superb performance from all.

Pupils from KS2 took part in a cricket tournament and came 1st out of the 12 schools that entered.  The team will now take part in the Newham finals on 19th January 2017.

Update :

On Thursday 12th January 25 pupils from years 5 and 6 attended the athletics competition run by the Cumberland Sports Partnership.

The children qualified for the finals coming in the top 8 out of 16 schools.  They will now go to the Copper Box Arena in Stratford for the finals later in the month

Calverton pupils played in the cricket final on the 19th January at Newham Leisure Centre.  The children played fantastically, winning all of the matches in their group.  This meant that they played Elmhurst Primary School in the final and after a very close match Elmhurst won making Calverton runners up.

Football - Boys and Girls Teams

Both Boys and Girls football teams are at the top of their leagues having both not lost a game.

On Wednesday 8th March Calverton's Girl Team played two matches against Winsor Primary.  They won both games 3-1 and 1-0.  This keeps them at the top of the league.

Dance Mats Competition

On the 31st January 2017 30 children from years 3 and 4 attended a Dance Mats competition held at Eastlea School.  The children danced their socks off and came a fantastic 4th out of 24 other teams participating.

Following on from their success, on Tuesday 21st February the same children took part in the dance mats final. Calverton Primary School A team won the competition beating Hallsville Primary.  Team B came third in their rounds.

Badminton

Calverton pupils took part in the first ever Badminton competition arranged by the Cumberland Sports Partnership.  12 teams were entered including Calverton's A and B teams.  They both qualified for the quarter finals both against Kier Hardie and won both games resulting in a Calverton A and B Final.  Overall winners with a gold medal were the A Team and the B team received silver medals.  A fantastic achievement for the first ever badminton competition.

Cross Country

On Monday 20th March, pupils from Years 4 and 5 took part in the West Ham Park Long Distance Run organised by the Cumberland Sports Partnership.  Calverton pupils were very impressive once again with both our A and B Teams from Year 4 coming 1st and 2nd our of 22 Teams in their age group, whilst our Year 5 Team came 3rd out of 19 other Teams that took part.

Tennis

Both of Calverton's years 5/6 and 3/4 tennis teams took part in the Cumberland Tennis Partnership Tournament at Cumberland School.  Due to their amazing efforts both sets of teams have earned themselves a place in the London Youth Games later this year.  Look out for more updates.
